A Cool, Clear Incense with a Warming Undercurrent
Snow in Spring is built around contrast: cool aromatic clarity appears first, followed by dry woods, gentle spice, and a softer warmth as the fragrance settles.
It is not intended to smell like a literal plum-blossom perfume. Instead, the composition evokes the idea behind its name — cold air, restrained fragrance, and the first suggestion of spring emerging through winter.
Clear and focused in character, it is particularly well suited to quiet daytime rituals.

A Sculptural Holder for Everyday Rituals
The Still Bowl Incense Holder brings a wide, bowl-shaped silhouette to the quiet ritual of incense. Its gold-tone plated stainless-steel bowl helps gather falling ash, while the solid wood base adds warmth, stability, and a grounded presence.
At the center, a removable brass sphere holds a slender incense stick upright and lifts out easily for cleaning or repositioning. Choose the Low profile for a compact, settled look or the Tall profile for a more architectural presence—both share the same generous bowl diameter.
Balanced in material and proportion, its restrained form sits naturally across tea tables, desks, shelves, and reading spaces. Minimal without feeling cold, it remains a small sculptural object even when no incense is burning.
Summer White brings together gardenia, sandalwood, and frankincense in a simple, airy composition.
Gardenia gives the fragrance its soft floral presence, while sandalwood adds a smooth, creamy woodiness underneath. Frankincense brings a subtle resinous clarity, keeping the fragrance light, balanced, and understated.

The Consort’s Smile approaches lychee from a quieter, less familiar direction.
Rather than recreating the sweetness of fresh fruit, the blend uses lychee shell alongside rue, sandalwood, agarwood, and borneol. Dry aromatic woods form the heart of the fragrance, while borneol brings a cool, clear lift. A restrained fruity nuance appears around the edges, adding complexity without becoming overtly sweet.

A Clear, Composed Incense with Dry Spice
The Infant Fragrance takes inspiration from Ying Xiang (婴香), a historical Chinese blended incense known from the Song dynasty.
Its character is clear and composed: mature woody depth meets restrained spice and a cool aromatic lift, while a softer rounded undertone keeps the fragrance from feeling austere.
Quiet rather than enveloping, it works especially well when you want fragrance to accompany concentration rather than become the center of attention.

The Walnut Incense Holder brings the holder, ash-catching surface, and stick storage into one slim form. A recessed top tray helps gather falling ash, while the lower compartment keeps a small supply of incense close at hand and protected between uses.
At one end, a removable polished brass insert rests within carved concentric rings. Two side apertures, approximately 1.8 mm and 2.5 mm, accommodate different slender coreless incense sticks. Choose the opening closest to the stick diameter and confirm a secure fit before lighting.
Closed, the long rounded walnut box sits quietly on a desk, shelf, bedside table, or reading surface. Natural differences in grain and tone make each holder subtly distinct.
A Rich, Layered Incense of Warmth and Coolness
Yang Guifei’s Chamber Incense has a deeper, more expressive character, moving between rich woods, dry spice, sweet herbal nuances, and a cool aromatic lift.
Rather than settling into one heavy woody note, the fragrance shifts between warmth and clarity as it burns, creating a layered aroma that feels refined, enveloping, and quietly dramatic.
More present than softer blends such as Pear Chamber, it is especially suited to evenings when fragrance is meant to become part of the atmosphere.

Frequently asked questions .
Start with the fragrance character you naturally enjoy. Softer woody or gently fruity blends are approachable if you prefer understated scents, while resinous, spiced, or cooling compositions offer a more distinctive presence. If you enjoy floral fragrance, explore blends centered on osmanthus, jasmine, gardenia, or other botanical materials. Each product page includes an Aroma Character and Best For guide to make comparison easier.
Fragrance is personal, so these descriptions are intended as guides rather than strict rules.
The Heritage Collection takes inspiration from historical Chinese incense formulas preserved in traditional incense literature. Our floral fragrances take a more contemporary approach, combining flowers and botanical materials with the layered structure of Chinese blended incense. Both are guided by Gentle Still's preference for balanced, restrained fragrance.
Standard sticks are 8.3 in (21 cm) long and burn for approximately 40 minutes. Mini sticks are 4.7 in (12 cm) long and burn for approximately 25 minutes.
Standard is ideal for a longer ritual, while Mini is convenient for shorter sessions, smaller spaces, or exploring a new fragrance.
We do not currently offer individual samples. If you would like to explore a fragrance with a shorter burn time and a lower initial commitment, we recommend choosing the Mini size.
Use a stable, heat-resistant incense holder that supports the stick securely and catches falling ash. Place it on a level, non-flammable surface, away from drafts, curtains, paper, and other flammable materials.
Incense can be enjoyed as part of a daily ritual when used thoughtfully. Always burn it in a well-ventilated area, avoid inhaling smoke directly, and base the frequency of use on your space and personal comfort. Never leave burning incense unattended.
